My love for beautiful ceramics started at a young age, influenced greatly by my mother’s passion for collecting unique and charming tableware. Sundays at our house were special: the table was set beautifully with a delicate English floral China set. It felt magical, almost ceremonial. On weekdays, we used the cheerful, rustic “boerenbont” dishes neatly stacked in a large cabinet in our kitchen—practical yet still filled with character.

I vividly remember the special children’s sets with whimsical bunny illustrations and another charming set featuring little gnomes, bringing an imaginative sparkle to our daily meals. Over the years, our kitchen evolved into a colourful mosaic of memories, highlighted by beautiful blue ceramics proudly displayed in an antique cabinet with glass doors that spanned an entire wall.

Traveling and thrifting became part of this tradition as well. Handmade bowls and plates discovered on adventures or gifted by loved ones added layers of stories to our family’s collection.
